 Kathy has worked for Providence Alaska Medical Center for 15+ years. Kathy's current position is that of the Substance Abuse Nurse for Providence Alaska Medical Center. She provides the essential service of assessment opportunity for those patients who are admitted to PAMC. Kathy sees patients at the request of doctors in the hospital.
Kathy has many years of experience in the chemical dependency/mental health fields.Kathy's services include:
1. Screening patients for treatment and follow-up needs in treating substance abuse. Referrals are made to Providence Breakthrough programs and treatment centers throughout the city and state and some out of state, as appropriate.
2. Monitoring Detoxification protocols and helping with detoxing patients- obtaining histories, old records and discussing needs and plans with staff providing care. Revision and upgrade of the detox protocols.
3. Coordinating psychiatric help in difficult detox cases.
4. Providing support and education for staff regarding detox.
Kathy is a long time Alaskan and enjoys salmon fishing.
