Since 1989, Breakthrough has offered outpatient services which are structured to allow clients to continue participating in their real life environment while receiving treatment for problems related to drugs and alcohol. Breakthrough is the only drug and alcohol treatment agency in the State of Alaska which is accredited both by the State of Alaska and nationally by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). All Breakthrough counselors are certified in the field of addiction treatment.
Following assessment and medical screening, clients are admitted to a program as clinically indicated according to the American Society of Addictive Medicine (ASAM) criteria.
