The work of the Children's Hospital at Providence doesn't stop at our doors.  Reaching out to remote communities and villages is part of our ongoing mission to promote well being through education.

During the last 2 years, Dr. BJ and the PICU team of nurses, respiratory therapists and radiology technicians have routinely traveled throughout Alaska.  Nome, Emmonak, Aniak, Bethel, Dillingham, Homer, Soldotna, Seward, Fairbanks, Fort Yukon are just some of the areas where we visit. During our time there we treat children and teach health aids, nurses, physicians, paramedics and other health care personnel pediatric assessment, resuscitation, IV techniques, diagnosis, X-ray techniques, etc.  and provide support to enhance the continuity of care available to Alaskan children.

We have had the recent honor of meeting and working with the Aniak Dragon Slayers, a nationally renowned group of young girls who volunteer in the Aniak Fire Dept.
