Marilyn Kerr is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with Providence since 1992. Ms. Kerr received her Bachelor degree in Sociology from the College of St. Catherine in Minnesota. She received her Master degree in Social Work from the University of Denver. She was granted her ACSW in 1976 and she is licensed in Alaska in Clinical Social Work. She is a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (NASW).
Ms. Kerr worked in her field in Colorado and Oregon before coming to Alaska in 1974. She has provided services in Ketchikan, Cordova, Pribilof Aleutian Islands, and Anchorage as well as consultation services to rural areas throughout the state. Ms. Kerr has also been an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Social Work at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Ms. Kerr initially joined Providence to work on the Discovery Adolescent Unit. She provided outpatient individual and group therapy as well as providing co-therapy with Breakthrough for adolescents with associated substance abuse issues. Since 1997, she has worked for Langdon providing group and individual therapy pre-teen, teens, and adults. She also provides family and couples therapy.
Her current clinical focus is working with individuals with depression, anxiety, bi-polar illness, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and adjustment issues.
