Our dedicated Electrophysiology lab is state-of-the-art and one of the few of its kind in the nation. This lab allows our cardiologists to provide a broader array of techniques to manage irregular heartbeats. Our three-dimensional mapping and ablation equipment, one of two locations available in Washington, creates the ability to tackle the most difficult cases, providing curative treatment for patients. Ablation is a procedure where the heart’s abnormal rhythm is stimulated, and a radio frequency is applied, creating a pea-sized scar that blocks the abnormal rhythm in the future. Similarly, our lab is the only one in Northwest Washington capable of inserting implantable defibrillators into patients who are at a high risk for sudden cardiac arrest. These tiny devices provide the life saving shock to the patient’s heart when its rhythm becomes unstable.
