Mission Statement
Faith in Action
is a dedicated team of trained volunteers and professional staff providing vital support and assistance to seniors facing the challenges of aging who live in the Greater Issaquah and Sammamish communities.
What Services Do We Provide?
Faith in Action provides options so seniors can maintain their independence. They include:
-
Transportation Services: rides to/from medical appointments and assistance with grocery shopping and other errands
-
Home Services: help with housekeeping, handyman tasks and yard work
-
Resource Services: information and referrals for seniors needing assistance
-
Transition Support Services: post-hospitalization and post-rehabilitation assistance
-
Social Support Services: bringing people together for social visits
The program serves the elderly of greater Issaquah and Sammamish areas regardless of income, race or creed.
Who Volunteers?
Volunteers carry out Faith in Action services. We are looking for caring individuals who want to give back to their community or live out their faith. Our volunteers are screened, well-trained and provided ongoing support for their work. The best volunteers are those who care for and desire to serve our seniors in a way that brings encouragement and support. All volunteers are screened and receive valuable training and support.
Who Requests Services?
- Concerned families, friends or neighbors
- Congregation members
- Health care or social service agencies and organizations
- Frail or vulnerable individuals
Goals
Through the providing of these free services we hope to achieve the following outcomes:
- Decreased isolation and improved access to services
- Maintained and enhanced independence
- Happier, healthier family caregivers
- A more caring and sensitive community
Funding
Grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation initially launched this grassroots, not-for-profit program in 1998. After its founding, Faith in Action became financially independent. Its services are free of charge and there are no Providence Marianwood funds to offset its cost. Grants, congregration support and private donations fund this program. All contributions are welcome and needed to ensure these services will continue to provide caregiving support to elders in our community.
