Local version of “Antiques Roadshow” comes to West Seattle

Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation will present an Antique Appraisal Show on Friday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The Mount’s (4831 35th Ave. SW) main east-entrance lobby.

In the spirit of "Antiques Roadshow," the popular PBS television program (now in its eighth season) that features professional antique appraisers who reveal the history, lore and estimated current market value of privately owned treasures, the public is invited to bring old items such as paintings, rings, vases, powder jars, lamps, sconces, radios, etc.

Onsite experts will provide oral valuations of individual items for $2; three items for $5. All proceeds will benefit the residents and program participants at The Mount, a not-for-profit senior living care facility and sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence. Written evaluations will be provided for any item donated to The Mount’s Emilie’s Treasures Thrift Boutique (tax deductible to the extent the law allows).

Expert appraisers Pat and Renee Campbell are local antique dealers with several Seattle-area locations. They specialize in the evaluation of costume jewelry, women’s vanity items, handbags, silver overlay, silver deposit, sterling, art deco, arts and crafts, and furniture. The Campbells offer an extensive reference library as well as electronic testing equipment for evaluating diamonds, gems and precious metals such as silver, gold, platinum and palladium. They bring a solid base of practical jewelry and antique experience with gemological and metals training, formal valuation training and an understanding of true market value as compared to "book" or museum valuation.
