Four radiation oncology centers – located at each Medical Center, as well as at the Valley Radiation Oncology Center in Tarzana and the Providence Holy Cross Cancer Center in Santa Clarita – provide state-of-the-art radiation treatments, including intensity modulated radiation therapy, customized low and high dose rate brachytherapy, and three dimensional treatment planning for various types of cancers. The three radiation oncology centers represent the only multi-institution radiation consortium in California that is accreditated by the American College of Radiology in California.
- The Providence Breast Health Center in Burbank provides coordinated breast health services in one location. A team of specialists offers education, screenings and advanced diagnostic services for the prevention and early detection of cancer in a comfortable place.
- Personal Appearance Rehabilitation Center helps patients coping with appearance side effects of cancer therapy to maintain a positive self image. Services include education, fittings, help with purchasing and using prostheses, wigs, turbans, mastectomy bras, as well as corrective skincare and makeup.
- New IMRT Treatment for Prostate Cancer - Bill Battersby recently celebrated his 67th birthday and says he feels no different than he did 20 years ago. Despite his fight with prostate cancer, Battersby remains active, continues to work full-time and is optimistic about his future. He recently completed 40 treatments of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and is the first patient to receive IMRT treatments at the hospital.
If you ask Battersby about his experience, he'll tell you, "It was as simple as laying on a tanning bed in a tanning salon."
- Dietary Counseling services include Registered Dietitians who will work together with the patient and physician to provide support services to help maintain good nutrition.
- Rehabilitation – including comprehensive treatment for lymphedema, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and recreational therapy – all have the goal of minimizing pain and ultimately helping the patient return to an optimal functioning level.
- Providence Home Care offers a broad range of compassionate medical care and support services in the comfort of the patient's home. Services range from simple assistance in the activities of daily living to high-tech medical procedures.
- Home Hospice and Palliative Care, with its compassionate health care team, is dedicated to caring for the special needs of terminally ill patients and their loved ones who care for them, in the comfort of their home or in the Medical Center. In partnership with the patient, physician and caregivers, the hospice team assists the individual in living this phase of life to its fullest. Our comprehensive service provides pain relief and allows the patient to have control over treatment decisions as well as avoidance of unwanted technologies and support for patients and caregivers, thereby allowing the patient to live the rest of his/her life with dignity.
- Support, Education and Outreach, which includes education, health screenings, counseling, and support groups for the patient as well as their family members and friends.
- Clinical Research - The Providence Cancer Centers also have a respected research team bringing the latest breakthroughs in techniques, procedures, equipment and medications to patients.
