Neurologic Outpatient Rehabilitation

The Providence Saint Joseph and Providence Holy Cross Neurologic Outpatient Program is a comprehensive rehabilitation program, offering a wide range of therapy services.  Our Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists are specially trained in the treatment of neurological and non-neurological disorders a rehabilitation model of care.

Providence Neurological Outpatient Program has been caring for neuro-related patients for more than 35 years.  Providence and its comprehensive Rehabilitation Department are dedicated to meeting the needs of patients through numerous specialized service lines.

Integrated Approach
Our interdisciplinary approach focuses on one common goal – returning the patient to a functional, productive and meaningful lifestyle.  To achieve this goal, we provide both clinic-based therapy and community re-entry.

Our team works closely with the patients and their caretaker(s) to tailor the treatment program around their individual needs.  The spectrum may include an intense daily program, which incorporates a multitude of therapies for those who are just leaving an acute setting and require ongoing consistency.  Or, it can be a program that includes only a single therapy of low frequency and short duration.

Who should come to the Neurologic Outpatient Program?
Persons with the following post-acute conditions may benefit from treatment:

  • Stroke
  • Brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Peripheral nerve injury
  • Neuro-muscular disorders
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Major multiple trauma
  • Other non-progressive central nervous system disorders
  • Most important, the patient must be motivated and able to learn

Program goals
The Neurologic Outpatient Program therapists:

  • Provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy evaluations to determine appropriateness of care
  • Assist the patient in determining appropriate short-term and long-term goals

  • Evaluate the patient to review progress, establish new goals and review approaches
  • Assess the patients’ rehabilitation needs based on their progress
