Welcoming more than 10,000 babies each year, Providence performs more deliveries than any other health system in Oregon. Our Family Maternity Centers at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Providence Portland Medical Center, Providence Milwaukie Hospital and Providence Newberg Medical Center provide friendly, highly skilled doctors, nurses, and midwives who provide high-quality, personal maternity care.

NICU for Medically Fragile Babies
Located at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, the Providence Neonatal Intensive Care Unit features 42 bassinettes for premature and medically fragile infants. The only Level III NICU in Washington County, the Providence NICU has garnered national awards for its innovative, high-quality care.

Providence Beginnings
Providence Beginnings teams special nurses and social workers together with doctors and midwives to provide a variety of services to help support women during pregnancy. Providence Beginnings is offered free of charge to all women whose babies will be born at a Portland area Providence Hospital (hospital services only for Kaiser members) or who are insured by Providence Health Plan. Providence Breastfeeding Center
We offer a variety of breastfeeding (lactation) services to help mothers provide the best nutrition for their newborns. Certified lactation consultants or registered nurses skilled in helping mothers succeed at breastfeeding are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Home health nurse visits

Providence family classes
Providence offers classes in a broad range of topics from preparation for childbirth, to infant CPR and massage.
