Falling is a very real concern for older adults. Nearly half of all people over age 65 fall every year. Many are seriously injured.
When people worry about falling, they often reduce their activity level. This reduction can decrease confidence to the point where some people are afraid to walk around.
To help older adults remain active, strong and healthy, Providence Rehabilitation Services offers Fall Risk Assessment. Therapists measure a person’s risk of falling, using these tools:
Physical history and risk factors
Vision screening
Orthostatic blood pressure reading
Balance assessments
Strength and mobility testing
After the assessment, therapists may suggest ways to improve mobility and safety so that older adults can increase their confidence and decrease their risk of falling.
Fall risk assessments are available at all Providence Rehabilitation Services locations. Call the nearest location for more information or to schedule an appointment.
