Things You'll Need

 

Some of the supplies that will help make your baby's homecoming comfortable and safe include:

  • Approved car seat           Newborn 
  • Crib            
  • Blankets (for crib and swaddling)            
  • Diapers            
  • Layette:
    •  T-shirts or onesies
    •  Sleepers
    •  Booties and socks
    •  Receiving blankets
    •  Sweaters 
  • Bathing supplies:
    • Soft washcloths, towels and hooded towels 
    • Mild, non-perfumed soap or commercial baby wash 
    • Baby hairbrush 
    • Small plastic tub or clean sink 
    • Infant nail clippers  
  • Medicine cabinet supplies:
    • Infant thermometer          
    • Non-aspirin liquid pain reliever          
    • Rubbing alcohol and cotton balls          
    • Diaper rash ointment          
    • Bulb syringe to clean the nose (supplied by the hospital)          
    • Saline nasal spray          
    • Syrup of ipecac (use only as directed by your baby's physician or the Poison Control Center)

Also recommended (but not necessary):  

  • Changing table        
  • Baby intercom
