Emergency Center and Laboratory Addition at Providence St. Peter Hospital

Seismic Structure: The building has a steel frame and concrete sheer walls. The concrete walls are designed to absorb earthquake shocks.
Total project cost: $27.5 million
Financing: The majority of the funding will come from loans secured by the Providence Health System, and some funding will come from community philanthropy. Providence St. Peter Foundation has launched a $3.3 million capital campaign and as of January 2004 has raised $2.2 million.
Emergency Center
- 25,000 square feet (three times the size of the previous facility)
- Computerized patient tracking and high-tech communication systems will help alleviate wait times for patients and visitors

- Six cardiac and stroke rooms with new equipment

- Two EENT (eye, ear, nose, throat) rooms

- Rooftop helipad
- Treated 57,000 patients at its emergency department in 2002. In 2003, the emergency center expects to serve 60,000 patients.
