Providence St. Peter Hospital Named One of Nation’s Top 100 Heart Hospitals

OLYMPIA--Patients with heart problems will find some of the nation’s best care at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. For the third time since 1999, the hospital has been recognized by Solucient as being one of the best cardiovascular hospitals in the country.

Solucient is an independent company based in Evanston, Ill., that analyzes the nation’s 6,000 acute care hospitals each year. The Solucient 100 Top Hospitals Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success study rated hospitals’ performance, identifying winning hospitals as providing superior performance in the clinical management of cardiovascular disease – the number one killer of men and women.

The Solucient study found that when compared with their peers, the 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals:

  • have higher survival rates,
  • are less likely to have post-operative complications,
  • have lower costs,
  • have shorter lengths of stay,
  • and are technologically and clinically advanced.

This is a tremendous honor for us and great news for the community,” said Scott Bond, CEO/Administrator. “Southwest Washington residents will be pleased to know that they can receive nationally ranked heart care here in the local area. I commend our cardiovascular physicians and staff for the outstanding clinical skills and compassionate care they demonstrate every day.”

Providence St. Peter Hospital is among only three hospitals in Washington to receive this recognition. Providence Everett Medical Center also was named among the 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the nation. More information is available at www.100tophospitals.com.

Providence St. Peter Hospital, founded by the Sisters of Providence in 1887, is a not-for-profit 390-bed hospital serving the five-county South Sound region with comprehensive medical, surgical and mental health services. For more information, visit www.providence.org/swsa.
