What to Bring to the Hospital - A Suggested List

 

For Mom

  • Address book, phone list
  • Digital camera or camera & film
  • Video camera
  • Chap Stick or lip balm
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste for you and your partner
  • Tapes, CDs, portable tape or CD player
  • Socks, slippers
  • Nursing bra (optional)
  • Personal grooming items, hair dryer
  • Pictures of family (to be used as focal point during labor)
  • Inflatable or small spa pillow (to use in the tub)
  • Maternity clothes to go home in

For Baby

  • Car seat: practice installing it in your car ahead of time
  • Several diapers
  • Plastic pants or diaper wrap (if using cloth diapers)
  • Undershirt
  • Booties, hat
  • Gown, stretch suit or other clothing for taking baby home
  • Two receiving blankets
  • Bunting or heavy blanket (depending on the season)
  • If formula feeding, have formula at home

Please note: Cell phones may not be used inside the hospital due to possible interference with monitoring equipment.
