Providence St. Peter Hospital offers procedures for diagnosis and treatment in the areas of:
Orthopedic surgery
Our outpatient surgery staff is expert in a number of orthopedic surgeries, including arthroscopy (viewing and repair of muscles, bones or joints with a tube through a very small incision) for various sports injuries and carpal tunnel and rotator cuff (shoulder) repairs. We also perform ACL (anterior cruciate ligament of the knee) reconstruction, bunion removal and removal of hardware from past surgeries, among many other procedures.
General surgery
We perform numerous general surgical procedures every day in our outpatient settings, ranging from removal and dissection of lymph nodes, to breast biopsy, removal of appendix and hemorrhoids, vein removal and many others.
Ophthalmology
Common ophthalmological procedures that we perform at our outpatient center include cataract removal, tear duct examination, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), eyebrow lift, capsulotomy (creating a tiny hole with a laser beam so light passes through the eye's lens), removal of chalazion (small tumor of the eyelid), eye muscle surgery, and various others. In Fall 2000, we began offering retinal surgery in our outpatient and inpatient settings. We now perform corneal transplant surgery as well.
Ear, nose and throat
We remove tonsils, adenoids, thyroid and neck masses, perform surgical repair of the nasal septum, and offer a number of other procedures.
Urology
We routinely remove bladder and ureteral stones in our outpatient settings, in addition to performing various procedures to treat urinary incontinence, removing bladder tumors, ureteroscopy (viewing and repair of ureter with a tube through a very small incision), circumcision and other procedures.
Plastic surgery
We are equipped for and experienced in a wide range of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures, including liposuction (fat removal), breast augmentation or reduction, skin lesion removal, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), eyebrow lift, facial skin resurfacing, hair removal and skin grafting.
Dental surgery
In our outpatient settings, we typically restore and remove child and adult teeth, and perform abscess drainage and facial fracture repair.
Gynecology
We routinely perform diagnostic and treatment procedures for a number of gynecological conditions. Most common are hysterectomy (surgical removal of uterus), hysteroscopy (inspection of the uterus with a tube through a very small incision), pelvic and vaginal laparascopy (viewing of pelvis and vagina with a tube through a very small incision), and dilation and curettage (dilation of cervix and scraping of the lining of the uterus) for diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, fibroids and certain gynecological cancers.
