The Discovery Unit is an acute inpatient program for youth, ages 13-18, who are in need of intensive crisis intervention, stabilization, and mental health treatment. The unit is designed to provide a therapeutic environment for adolescents who are experiencing a crisis and require a short-term hospital stay. If inpatient care is required, the adolescent will be admitted. If inpatient care is not recommended, the adolescent will be referred to outpatient therapy.
Program Basics The Discovery Unit teaches how to cope with issues that regularly affect teenagers. Creative expression is a therapy process used for teaching relationship skills. Education groups address medication needs, nutrition, and life skills.
