Providence Behaviorial Medicine Group offers a group for adults who have on-going insomnia. The group will focus on education about sleep, sleep hygiene, and on cognitive techniques to deal with insomnia.
Sleep problems are identified as being a part of almost all mental health diagnoses. Frequently, even when most symptoms of a mental health disorder are adequately treated, insomnia remains as a problem. Insomnia is a predictor of relapse for previously well controlled disorders.
If you have had difficulty initiating sleep when you go to bed or have trouble maintaining sleep once you get to sleep for more than 1 month, you may benefit from this group. This group is not indicated for individuals who have any other un-treated sleep disorder. You should be in good general health with no major unstable health conditions.
Fay Reilly, ANP and Alison King MS, MAC will facilitate the group. Both therapists have experience with individual and group therapy, and have frequently addressed the issue of insomnia in their practice.
The group will be held at Providence Behavioral Medicine Group 3801 Lake Otis Parkway, Suite 200. This group will consist of 8 weekly sessions of one and one-half hours each session.
The next set of groups will start in January, 2009
