What is Neuropsychological Testing?

We offer two types of neuropsychological testing:
Clinical Neuropsychological Assessment
focuses on a perceived impairment of cognitive functioning from physical or mental illness, injury, or developmental disorder.
Forensic neuropsychological assessment
Determines individual's ability to carry out certain tasks (e.g. employment testing)
Gathers information for the court of law to use as evidence in a legal claim or criminal investigation.
Neuropsychological assessments examine aspects of cognitive functioning including:
Orientation
New Learning/Memory
Intelligence
Language
Visuoperception
Executive-control/Self-awareness
The data from these tests are then placed within a person's wider contextual circumstances including psychological, personal and interpersonal issues.
Goal of neuropsychological assessment is to:
Understand the nature of any brain injury or cognitive problem and its impact on the individual
Devise a treatment program (if necessary)
Measure change in functioning over time
