Dr. Nassar was born in Houston Texas. He received his undergraduate degree at the American University in Washington D.C. In addition to his pre-medical curriculum, he also majored in International Relations. Dr. Nassar is bilingual in English and Arabic. He received his medical degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. and completed his residency at Shepard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Baltimore which is one of the premier private psychiatric hospitals in the country. Dr. Nassar was the outpatient chief resident in his final year at the hospital.
Dr. Nassar has been working in Alaska since 1995. His first position in Alaska was as staff psychiatrist for the Norton Sound Health Corporation in Nome. In this capacity, he provided care for Norton Sound beneficiaries both in Nome and in the surrounding villages. He was involved in the treatment for both mental health and in substance abuse. While there, Dr. Nassar authored a chapter in the Community Health Aide Manual on training in alcohol and substance abuse.
Dr. Nassar has been practicing in Anchorage since 1998 including at Southcentral Foundation on the Alaska Native Medical Center campus in both the inpatient and outpatient facilities. He was also the Medical Director of the Providence Breakthrough program and a consultant to the Providence Sleep Disorder Center. Most recently, Dr. Nassar's practice at Langdon Clinic is focused on outpatient evaluation and treatment and forensic issues as well as coverage for the consultation and liaison service.
