Dr. von Hafften graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Industrial Engineering.  He graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the University of Washington.  He completed a fellowship in Community Psychiatry.  Dr. von Hafften is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In 1990, Dr. von Hafften began clinical work in Alaska as a WWAMI psychiatric resident.  Dr. von Hafften returned to Anchorage in 1993.  Since then, he has worked in a variety of settings including Anchorage Community Mental Health Services, Alaska Native Medical Center/Southcentral Foundation, and University of Alaska Anchorage.  Dr. von Hafften joined Langdon Clinic in 2005.  He specializes in adult outpatient psychiatry.

Dr. von Hafften is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Alaska Psychiatric Association, American Association of Community Psychiatrists, American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists, American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, American Medical Association, and Alaska State Medical Association.
