Thank you for your interest in the Providence Alaska Medical Center Volunteer program. We maintain an active group of Volunteers and take applications throughout the year.
Applications are accepted in the order in which they are received, so be sure to return yours soon.
To be eligible, Volunteers must:
· Be at least 14 years old (16 years old to volunteer in patient contact areas)
· Be able to maintain a weekly volunteer schedule of a minimum of 3-4 hours per week for 6 months
This list provides some general information about steps required to become a volunteer at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a 6 months, 100 hours minimum commitment.
Please make sure you are able to meet this requirement before taking the following steps.
• Attend orientation
• Complete and submit volunteer application [Junior] [Adult]
• Complete 2-step Tuberculosis (TB) screening, (at least 1 week apart, TB screens are valid for 1 year)
• Provide proof of immunity to Rubella and Rubeola:
record of 2 MMR vaccinations or, blood draw for titer ($20.00 deposit)
• Varicella (chicken-pox) history:
history as a child or, proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or, blood draw for Varicella titer ($20.00 deposit)
• Sign release for background checks (Volunteers 16 years of age and older)
(Deposit for blood draws are refundable after 50 hours of volunteer service w/ original receipt)
After all the above steps are completed and the documents are at the Volunteer Services office, you will be instructed to go to CasTech to be fingerprinted. (Volunteers 16 years of age and older)
You are now ready to interview, next:
• Bring the receipt from the fingerprinting to the interview.
• Attend interview, receive volunteer assignment
• Receive volunteer schedule
• Receive name badge
• Complete department training
You are now a Providence volunteer!
