Perioperative Nursing is a dynamic specialty that provides state-of-the-art patient care to health care consumers before, during, and after the surgical experience.
We are pleased to present nurses an opportunity to explore this career field through a custom-designed OR/Surgical Services RN Fellowship Program.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Providence Alaska Medical Center will be offering a six-month preceptor guided training to RNs new to the surgical setting. This program will provide the basic principles and clinical experience needed to begin practice at an entry level as a perioperative nurse. The course utilizes the AORN Perioperative Nursing Core Curriculum as the basis for didactic, clinical laboratory, and clinical patient care experiences. The content is based on the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Standards, Recommended Practices, and Guidelines.
SELECTION CRITERIA
• Candidate must demonstrate enthusiasm for the learning process, good clinical judgment, patient and family advocacy and teamwork.
• Upon completion of the program, the nurse will agree to work in the PAMC OR for 2 years.
