Post Partum Support Alaska
Are you a new mom?  Are you sad or anxious?  You are not alone! Over 20% of Alaskan moms have depression or anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum.  Symptoms can come on gradually during pregnancy and for up to a year afterwards. Some symptoms include: frequent sadness or crying; insomnia; anger and irritability; emotional numbness; changes in appetite; feeling overwhelmed, confused; repetitive thoughts, images, or fears; over-concern for the baby; difficulty concentrating, indecisiveness; feelings of inadequacy or guilt; thoughts of suicide or escape fantasies; anxiety/panic.  Postpartum Support Alaska facilitates a mom to mom support group.

When: Class meets every Monday: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Maternity Education Center (old Providence House)

This is a free service for all new moms adjusting to pregnancy and postpartum. Share secrets, struggles, survival tips (and some good snacks). You can bring your babies if you like.

Testimonials
Thanks so much!  We really enjoyed the class.  We can’t believe how much we didn’t know!  You’ll be hearing from us when it’s time to breastfeed!

I just wanted to thank you for all the great advice and reassurance.  I am a nurse but pretty green as a mom so you were a big help.  Keep up the good work!

My wife just back from your Cuddlers group and she had a fantastic time!  She loved talking and hearing from the other moms!

Children & Parenting
Children need love, shelter, safety, clothing, food and support. But that's not all. They also need to learn, early on, habits that are good for their health.
