Progressive Care Unit Fellowships
The Progressive Care Unit provides an exciting work environment to motivated registered nurses who wish to develop their critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills while delivering care to an acute and diverse patient population. The level of acuity in PCU offers nurses an excellent opportunity to further develop their skills in assessment, planning and implementing care, and facilitating optimal patient outcomes.
What does it take?
Successful applicants will demonstrate good clinical judgment, advocacy, caring practices, collaboration, systems thinking, diversity awareness, and clinical inquiry.
Providence Alaska Medical Center's Progressive Care Fellowship is designed to offer motivated nurses with at least one year of experience an opportunity to transition into progressive care nursing. This 6-8 week program is customized based on individual needs. The content includes a didactic component, preceptor-facilitated practice experiences, and observational experiences.
Upon completion of this program, the Progressive Care Unit Nurse will be able to:

Use a complex knowledge base to plan and deliver care to an acutely ill patient population. |

Manage common cardiac and physiologic emergencies that occur in an acute patient care area. |

Deliver compassionate, holistic, patient-centered care to diver patient populations. |
