The Relapse Prevention program is an 8-week, closed group course which meets once a week for 3 hours. It is facilitated by Alison King, MS, MAC and is based on the Gorski-Cenaps Model of Relapse Prevention. As this is an advanced course, it is available for those who have completed an initial course of treatment, either with Breakthrough or another treatment facility, who have at least 30 days clean from all addictive chemicals, and who have completed Breakthrough's Family Night educational series. Abstinence and completion of primary treatment are essential for this course because the information presented requires an understanding of addiction and recovery concepts and an ability to process information and develop personal insight. This is a lecture-based course and is not used as a process/support group. Therefore, the incorporation of a sober support network in daily functioning is required.
