Providence Alaska Medical Center, its staff, and the local physicians who care for those with cancer remain committed to improving oncology services and care for all Alaskans. This annual report brings you some of the work that has been accomplished over the past year.
The Providence Alaska Cancer Program received a three-year accreditation as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and the Commission on Cancer (COC). This designation represents a milestone for cancer care in our community.
In the past year a number of services have been added to the cancer program that are directly designed to serve the patient and family throughout the continuum of care. The services include the following:
• Patient Navigator Program
• Genetic Counseling
• Palliative Care Program
• Providence Alaska Hospice Program
• Design/Development phase of a new Cancer Center
