Our Kodiak medical center is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center features 25 acute care beds, including 4 birthing suites and 4 psychiatric care beds. It includes a significant range of inpatient and outpatient services including emergency department, surgery, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, specialty clinics, diagnostics, retail pharmacy and home health care.
Dealing with a community health issue head on is one way Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center is living its mission. Diabetes is a growing issue for the citizens of this island and the Providence team is partnering with the Kodiak Alaska Native Association to reach out and educate about the risks of the disease while also providing help in controlling the effects of the disease for those who are living with it.
“We have a wonderful relationship with our community and we partner a lot with other organizations to provide health education and health services for everyone in need on Kodiak Island,” said Don Rush, administrator.
One of these services is the Community Health Center, housed at the medical center. This primary care facility, which is independently operated, provides access to the uninsured on Kodiak, and its location at the medical center ensures those in need have access to specialists and diagnostic services.
“Cooperating and collaborating with others truly makes a difference for us in Kodiak,” said Rush. “We wouldn’t be able to fulfill our mission any other way.”
