Providence, YKHC to unite Air Ambulance Services

New company will provide the most comprehensive
services in Alaska

Anchorage, AK - Providence Health & Services Alaska and Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation will join their two air ambulance services, LifeGuard Alaska and Aeromed International, under a new corporation, the two organizations announced today.

The new company, LifeMed Alaska, will provide comprehensive air ambulance services throughout the state of Alaska, continuing the mission of both organizations to provide high quality patient care.

"These two air ambulance services are on call, every day, providing outstanding quality care to Alaskans when they need it most," said Providence CEO Al Parrish. "The alignment of our shared goals of the highest quality care and safety standards, along with our not-for-profit missions to serve all Alaskans makes this a beneficial partnership for Alaska."

The new company plans to be operational October 1, 2008. In the interim, both companies will continue to operate with no break in service.

"The integration of services allows us to enhance the delivery of critical air ambulance care to the people in the Yukon-Kuskokwim region and the entire state," said YKHC CEO Gene Peltola. "We are committed to providing outstanding health care services to all."

LifeMed Alaska will continue the bases and services provided by LifeGuard and Aeromed, including operating bases in Anchorage, Soldotna and Bethel and offering transport services for adult, pediatric, neonate and high-risk obstetric patients.
