Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Clinic (Center for Children with Special Health Needs)
The Pediatric Neurodevelopment Clinic at the Children’s Hospital at Providence provides neurologic and neuro-behavioral developmental assessments and follow-up for children.
A developmental pediatrician staffs the clinic with special training in developmental, neurologic and neuro-behavioral disorders. In addition, if your child is diagnosed with a developmental disability, or has special health needs, the staff can assist you and your child in finding links to community and national services or organizations.
LIFE Program
The LIFE (Long-term Infant Follow-up and Evaluation) Program at the Children’s Hospital at Providence addresses health and developmental issues of infants who are graduates of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The LIFE assessment team consists of a developmental pediatrician, pediatric therapists and a family care coordinator all with extensive experience with high-risk newborns and their families.
Stone Soup Group
An affiliated non-profit, with the Children's Hospital at Providence, the Stone Soup Group provides support, resource information and training to parents and programs throughout Alaska. Our Medical Home project offers training and resources to primary care providers involved in caring for children with special health care needs. Parent Navigators are available at some sub-specialty clinics to guide families to services and resources. They are experienced in accessing services and advocating for their own children’s special needs. Stone Soup Group offers training in Positive Behavior Support, a strategy whereby teams of parents and providers develop a better understanding of why challenging behaviors occur, and learn effective ways to teach children to communicate in a more acceptable way.
