Providence Rehabilitation Services

 

This collection of specialties brings together services that focus on the neurological, muscular, and skeletal rehabilitation needs of patients. The emphasis is on evaluation, comprehensive inpatient and outpatient programs, and education for the patient and family. Our goal is to help patients regain maximum independence after experiencing a disruption of physical or cognitive capabilities due to an accident, stroke, or birth defect.

Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Therapy Centers
Providence Sports Medicine / Rehabilitation Therapy Centers provide outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to patients with temporary and permanent disabilities.

Continuum of Care
Continuum of care means helping each patient make a smooth transition from the first office visit through the hospital stay, outpatient therapy and return to work, home and community. Each of the following programs and services is part of our comprehensive services.

Inpatient Services
Providence's orthopedic-neurology unit offers inpatient care for individuals with bone, joint of nervous system illness or injury. specially trained staff provides personalized care, helping patients recover from trauma or disease.

Our inpatient rehabilitation center is staffed by Board-eligible/certified physiatrists (physicians specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation), certified rehabilitation nurses, neuropsychologists, physical, occupational and speech therapists, social workers, dietitians and case managers. These experienced medical professionals work together with the patient and the patient's family to develop a personalized care plan tailored to meet each patient's needs.

Our staff is specially trained to treat a variety of conditions, including:   

  • amputation        
  • bone and joint injury (hip, knee, etc.)         
  • multiple sclerosis         
  • neuromuscular problems/paralysis         
  • spinal cord injury         
  • stroke         
  • traumatic brain injury         
  • work-related injury         
  • sports injury

Outpatient Services
Outpatient rehabilitation therapy is offered at two locations:

Tudor Park Professional Building 

  • physical, occupational, speech and vestibular (balance) therapies         
  • sports injury rehabilitation, including knee dysfunction         
  • stroke rehabilitation         
  • work injury rehabilitation         
  • disabled driver education         
  • activities of daily living apartment         
  • swallowing management
