Early Pregnancy

Every pregnancy is unique and special.  Early pregancy is a time of excitement, and lots of questions! As part of our commitment to support families, we are here to answer any question you may have.

Plan on attending one of our Pregnancy Basics Classes during your 1st or 2nd trimester. Designed just for moms early in their pregnancy, this class will help you prepare for the remainder of your pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a time for questions. We encourage you to ask us all of your questions - no matter how big or small. The following are some common questions we hear from moms early in their pregnancies:

Q: How do I find a Doctor or Midwife to deliver my baby?

A: Check out Find a Doctor on our web site. This is a list of all doctors and midwives who deliver babies at Providence.

Q: When should I register with the hospital?

A: You can register at any time during your pregnancy. All you need to do is complete a one page form and mail it back to Providence or complete the form on line. This pre-registration form is available from the Admitting Department or the Maternity Center. We would be happy to mail you a form. Just call 261-3149 to have one sent to your house.

Q:  Will my insurance cover all costs?

A:  Know your medical insurance ahead of time! Before you get admitted to the hospital, find out what your insurance plan covers. Nurses cannot answer insurance questions.  You will need to know if your plan requires preauthorizations for maternity services; if the plan covers you as well as your baby; what the authorized length of stay for vaginal and cesarean births is; and what coverage your baby will have and what the procedure is to add the new baby onto the plan.
