Welcome to the Pediatric unit at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Our Pediatric unit consists of 17 rooms divided into 2 themed areas: The Forest and The Train. Each area has it's own nursing station with staff readily available to help with all your needs and questions. Each patient room is set up with emergency medical equipment and features designed to make you and your child as comfortable as possible - daybed area, television, telephone, extra seating, and private bathrooms are standard in each room. Room temperatures are independently controlled within each room and can be adjusted for you and your child's comfort. For those patients who are able to leave their rooms, the Pediatric Unit has a Toddler play area, and an arts & crafts and teen room. For those who are unable to leave their room, we offer an assortment of activities for each age group. Visiting Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. daily. We believe the support and contact of family and friends will help lessen the stress of hospitalization and speed recovery. Parents are not considered visitors and are welcome 24-hours a day. All other visitors are encouraged to come during visiting hours, with parents approval, regardless of age. We do ask that visitors be free from illnesses which can be spread to your child as well as other patients who may lack a healthy immune system. We also suggest guiding the number and length of visits based on your childs needs as to allow for adequate rest and relaxation. To provide a secure environment for your child, the doors of the Pediatric Center are locked from 9pm to 6am.
