I couldn't have been more impressed by Dr. Carlson. I have a life-threatening condition and Dr. Carlsen spent the time to explain things carefully and compassionately. He treated me like you would treat a friend that you are very concerned about.

Doctor Carlson informed me that I'd most likely be in pain for the rest if my life. Nothing he could do, recommended a med doctor I'd seen previously. I left feeling very disheartened.

He seemed rushed this time & reacted to the "optic nerve stroke" with his focus on the word "stroke" - asking for 2 tests I am not sure were necessary. Our eye surgeon doctor & primary doctor had already ordered 1 of those tests. But I'm not a doctor so I didn't question his orders.

The best surgeon I have ever had. He is very direct, sometimes overly so. When he has bad news it hits hard. He is eager to comment on care outside his specialty and it can be confusing.

Dr. Carlson is extremely knowledgeable and a magnificent surgeon. He also listens and responds to my concerns agreeing to wait and watch a hematoma that dissolved on its own thus preventing another surgery.

I would not have any other neurosurgeon take care of me, Dr. Carlson has operated on my back twice and removed a brain tumor. I have the utmost respect for him as a person, physician, and friend. I trust Dr. Carlson with my life. He is compassionate, caring, concerned, kind, listens, explains, and we together come to agreement on the health issues. He is a wonderful person and NOT an arrogant, unapproachable, physician [...]
