As a new patient, I waited 7 months for an appt. to see this doctor. There was not enough time during the visit to cover my issues and answer all my questions.

This is the 2nd annual physical with this provider. My experience was very good this time, not good the first visit. I felt much more comfortable and listened to this time. I didn't get calls or letters from the office on any results but I do get the "my chart notices" I am starting to use this more as I realize it is the newer format for information.

The clerk who took information down for the triage nurse did a horrible job. She recorded that I have nausea and exhaustion. She did not report to the triage nurse that the pharmaceutical company wanted me to have my blood tested right away due to the new medication I was taking. I could have too much calcium in my blood. This person [...] then hung up the phone on me when I tried to explain that she should have added additional information to the triage nurse. In order for this clerk to cover her [...] , she blabbed our conversation all over the office. When I went in the next day the MA [...] mentioned my name to someone she was training after she put me in the exam room. Not HIPAA compliant. Also Providence should have more triage nurses available. Dr Hess is fabulous but needs better support staff.

Dr. Hess spent an exceptional amount of time getting to know me and my medical needs during this first visit. She had all my history at her finger tips and listened to all of my questions/concerns and answered them all for me. She didn't rush me at all. Very attentive.

I like Dr. Hess and her nurse [...] very well. I used to be with Rockwood and when I got that card in the mail that a new Providence office was opening up in Spokane and that they were taking new patients, I jumped on it and it is the best thing I ever did for my medical needs. Thank you Dr. Hess and all of your wonderful staff and all of the other doctors with PROVIDENCE!

Dr. Hess is amazing! Always takes time to listen to any issue. [...] her medical assistant is kind, courteous and respectful. She always makes me feel like family. The front staff was warm and welcoming and the check in process took only a couple minutes.

I was not given a referral for blood work, the doctor told me she was going to look into physical therapy for me but I heard nothing back about it. The hardest thing about my visit was that the EKG machine (both) malfunctioned and I was left with the recommendation "if you have the chest pains again just go to minor emergency and have them do an EKG, then we will know if there is a problem with your heart". That was very disconcerting to me and not very helpful.

I dread going to see Dr Hess. She is very difficult to talk to, she does not seem to listen or explain things clearly and she is very defensive. This last visit I took my daughter with me and my daughter had nothing nice to say about Dr Hess's bedside manner. She is blunt, terse and disorganized. She did not recall ordering a neurology referral and did not have the referral report. No follow up. I have thus scheduled a new patient appointment with a new primary care provider.

I'm blessed to have Dr. Hess as my physician. She's caring and kind. She really wants to know about you and listens. She and her nurse [...] were great and on top of everything. I've never had a doctor that has given me the time that I need to talk about. She wasn't in a rush to get me out of the room and that was nice. I will definitely recommend her to my family & friends.

It took me awhile to find a provider when I moved here. I'm on [...] and many of the providers I contacted were not taking new patients. The only reason I was able to get in to see Dr. Hess was because she was a new provider in the area. And she has been wonderful. I think what I like best is that she seems to take a genuine interest in me as a whole person...she wants to know what's going on on my life, my challenges and triumphs. I think establishing a relationship with a provider and maintaining that relationship over long periods of time is a key component to improving our health care system. People need to be SEEN and HEARD and they need to know their doctor really CARES about what's going on in their lives. I think physical health is absolutely linked to mental/emotional health. If people are suffering in their minds and souls, their bodies will start to manifest physical illness to get people to pay attention. There are many other factors that affect physical health too (environment, routine preventative health care, exercise, etc) but what people NEED most is...connection to others.

Sarah Hess listens to me like I am her only patient which is so kind and I believe she treats each patient like that. I can talk as long as I want and she is concerned about me and helping me with fixes for my health issues and wants things to be good for me. That makes me leave my appointment with her feeling very valuable.

This really isn't applicable because I went to meet Dr Hess for the first time, an introductory visit. She told me I don't need to come again this year, however I will need a blood test, a mammogram, a bone density test this year. She only took my blood pressure, pulse and temp. I hope I can get the other tests w/o another appt.

love seeing her. The only thing is they have been so busy this year it is harder and harder to get an appointment to see her. this office desperately needs more providers like a PA or NP for ear infections or same day illnesses. You shouldn't have to wait a month or longer.

It is very hard to get an appointment as there are no PAs, NPs. So when the other drs were out due to sickness and maternity leave I couldn't see her even for my ear infection. as it was I made an appointment the day before for the same thing a month away. I wouldn't have had this appointment had I not gone to ER.

When our previous doctor retired last May, we were left without a doctor, but were told a new one would be provided. Several months went by and we finally were given a sheet of paper with numerous options. We picked one out immediately but it was 4 months before she could meet with us.

I was Dr. [...]'s patient and when it became clear that she was not returning, I scheduled an appt with Dr. Hess, who had corresponded with me on the MyChart portal about some lab tests, and then ordered a second set of tests. So this was the first time I saw Dr. Hess. She was great and I hope to continue with her as my provider.

My provider has put through referrals right away, but the office of the doctor I have been referred to has often taken a month or two to contact me or I finally having to contact them and then setting the appointment the month after that.

[...] This was a get acquainted visit with Dr. Hess. I was extremely satisfied with her in every regard. She had reviewed my medical records, she was very interested in me and input I provided, very thorough without wasting time and I can tell a very smart and top doctor. I am extremely happy to have her as a partner in my health care !
