I was privileged to join Snohomish Family Medicine in 1978, captivated by their vision of personalized, top-quality care, along with a rotating sabbatical. Snohomish has been a great place to live and raise our three sons. My approach is to partner with patients to improve their lives while dealing with chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma, by minimizing medicines and maximizing healthy lifestyle choices. This dovetails with my interest in sports medicine and helping patients learn to exercise safely.
My sabbatical year experiences have broadened my perspective on patient care. I was fortunate to work in Appalachia, two rotations in Indian Health Service (with San Carlos Apaches and Navajos), and in a bush hospital in Congo, Africa. In 2008-09 my wife and I were at Village Mission Clinic in Tonga, South Pacific, where the tropics presented challenges in dermatology and infectious disease, as well as cross-cultural primary care. I enjoy working with patients to overcome barriers to maximizing their potential. Patients can live healthy lives with proper control of issues such as ADD and asthma. I look forward to being your doctor.
I have enjoyed providing medical coverage on the football sidelines, along with my partners, for the Snohomish Panthers and Glacier Peak Grizzlies. My interests in backpacking, hiking and skiing have given me a patient's perspective on issues of fitness, healing and injury prevention at different stages of my life. Other interests include gardening, photography and singing sacred music.
