About Katie B. Mcculloch

Dr. McCulloch has always enjoyed learning about the brain and the mind. She initially considered a career in research, but quickly realized that she wanted to work more closely with people. “I appreciate being invited into people’s lives,” she says, “and I’m grateful when I am able to make a positive difference for them.”

Changes in memory or thinking abilities are the concerns that typically bring people in to see her. To help investigate these issues, Dr. McCulloch works with her patients to complete individualized and detailed assessments of their cognitive abilities (such as memory, attention and language) and their emotional symptoms (such as depression, anxiety and stress). “This information helps guide a conversation about what could be helpful for that person’s unique situation,” she says. “Some people feel nervous about the process, and my goal is to make it very approachable and to focus on how we can use the information to make positive changes for them.”

Dr. McCulloch holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience from Western Washington University, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Houston. She completed her internship in clinical psychology and neuropsychology at the Memphis VA Medical Center, and a two-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is licensed as a psychologist in Oregon and Washington.

Having grown up near Olympia, Dr. McCulloch feels most at home in the Northwest. She enjoys spending time with her partner and their pets, trying new restaurants, reading, practicing yoga, and taking day trips to explore the other corners of the region.
