Providence Diabetes Program

916 Pacific Avenue, 7th floor
Everett WA  98206

Diabetes is a condition that changes how food is used by the body. It can affect both day-to-day energy and long-term health. While there is no cure for diabetes, it can be controlled when you learn how to manage it. Since 1973, the Providence Diabetes Program has worked as a team with the local medical community to serve hundreds of diabetes patients.

From support groups to individual education, here you'll find resources to help you successfully manage your diabetes.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS)
The Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS), recently recognized as one of the top 10 medical breakthroughs of 2008, can provide you with several days of detailed glucose results and patterns of your diabetes control that may be missed in general blood glucose testing. The sensor results and daily diary information are interpreted by our diabetes team and your physician to help improve your glucose control.

You also gain better insight about the benefit of continuous use of CGMS. In some cases, insurance providers cover CGMS expenses. Check with your health plan if you'd like to consider trying CGMS. Learn more about this new technology in our Powerful Medicine newsletter.

Diabetes Education
Many insurance policies cover full or partial payment for individual appointments and classes if you're referred by your primary care physician. Check with your health plan to determine specific coverage and call your physician for a referral.

Individual Education

As a patient, you meet privately with a registered diabetes nurse/educator to get the information you need for effective self-management. A registered dietitian from the Providence Nutrition Center is also consulted. Appointments available in Everett, Monroe, Mill Creek and Arlington. Learn more.

Comprehensive Group Classes
Group classes give you an active hands-on learning environment where you can meet others with the same concerns. Family and other support people are encouraged to attend. Group classes meet the quality standards set by the American Diabetes Association. Morning, evening and day classes available. Classes are covered by many insurance programs. Learn more.

Pregnancy Program
If you're pregnant and have diabetes, our pregnancy program can give you expert care to help you deliver a healthy baby. All visits and services are coordinated with your physician. Blood glucose meters available on loan.

Inpatient Education
If you have diabetes and you are hospitalized at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, our diabetes educators will visit you and answer your questions about diabetes, provide access to follow-up care resources and coordinate ongoing education.

Community Education
Members of our staff are available to speak with groups and share the latest diabetes information. Our educational programs are often provided in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association.

Support Groups
We offer three ongoing support groups: Type 1 Diabetes group, Type 2 Diabetes group and a group for parents of children with diabetes. Most groups meet monthly, feature guest speakers and are free. Learn more.
