Living Our Mission

In 2006, Providence Everett Medical Center provided nearly $29.6 million for charity and un-reimbursed care, health screenings, community education and outreach—providing care to all who seek it at our facilities. The only not-for-profit, non-taxing Medical Center in the county, Providence Everett Medical Center makes significant contributions to the community it serves.

Stories Behind the Numbers
Guided by the philosophy of the Sisters of Providence, we faithfully honor their vision of caring for the poor and vulnerable in the communities we serve. We never turn away any patient who can not pay. And every day, through contributions of time, expertise and money, we reach out to help those who need us the most. Here are some stories behind the numbers:

Camp PROV
Funded by the Providence Everett Children's Association, Camp PROV provides a week-long safe and fun day camp experience each summer for children with special care needs and their siblings.   Great experiences are shared through swimming pool play (hydrotherapy), arts and crafts, games, physical therapy, special education and other exciting experiences. Parents are able to share in the fun or take advantage of the opportunity for some rest and renewal. Teens show a gift for caring for special needs children, July 18, 2007 Everett Herald.

Camp Erin
Providence Hospice and Home Care made Camp Erin a reality. Supported by funding from the Jaimie Moyer Foundation, Camp Erin is the first Bereavement Camp in our area dedicated to children who have lost a loved one.

Parish Nurse Program
A joint collaboration between the Interfaith Association, the Red Cross, Snohomish County Health District, local churches and Providence Everett Medical Center, this program provides the community with specially trained disaster nurses in the event of an emergency. Providence Everett Medical Center provided the first three years of funding for this special nurse training program so that these nurses can be activated to set up shelter space, and provide basic nursing support in strategically located church sites during the first crucial days of a disaster. Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic
Furthering the mission, Providence Everett Medical Center opened the doors to the Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic. The clinic was established to provide basic medical care for people in the community who have had difficulty gaining access to healthcare providers. The Clinic's September 2007 expansion, increases primary care and adds metal health services to include on-staff, full-time, metal health practitioners. Local clinic steps in where nation is failing, Everett Herald, August 15, 2007.

In recognition of Providence Everett’s Centennial, listed below are 100 examples of living out the mission.
