Category I Joint Sponsorship Policy

 

Providence Everett Medical Center has been approved to award Category I accreditation to medical education programs under guidelines drawn up by the American Medical Association and the Washington State Medical Association.

THE ATTACHED APPLICATION (PDF) MUST BE FILLED OUT IN FULL AND SENT IN NO LATER THAN 60 DAYS PRIOR TO THE PROGRAM DATE.

These guidelines state that a joint sponsoring organization, such as Providence Everett Medical Center, "shall accept responsibility that the essentials are met by educational activities which it joint sponsors with non accredited entities".  Providence Everett Medical Center, Department of Medical Education must provide evidence that it participates integrally in the planning and implementation of each jointly sponsored CME activity.

The Department of Medical Education shall be integrally involved in the planning and implementation of each jointly sponsored CME activity. Final approval must be grant BEFORE the final draft of the program has gone to press.

It is REQUIRED that "Providence Everett Medical Center, Department of Medical Education", be prominently listed on the title page of the program brochure and course syllabus as a joint sponsor.
