Category 1 Program Planning Ideas

How do we assess the needs of our medical staff and community to plan medical education programs?

The Medical Education Advisory Committee is responsible for planning accredited educational programs after input from multiple sources, including:

  • an annual survey of medical staff membership
  • feedback from the PI/QI process:
    • medical staff peer review
    • hospital service line PI process
    • hospital staff - nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, etc.
  • attendee feedback (previous educational program)
  • community needs assessment (a representative from the Snohomish County Health District is a member of our education committee)

But we also need your input from your department's members. Many good ideas come from the spontaneous discussions that take place during department meetings. To take advantage of this resource for planning, we'd suggest considering a department meeting agenda item asking for ideas for medical education several times a year to get feedback from members in attendance. It will only take a minute, and their feedback will be very useful to help with ongoing program planning.

You can get these ideas back to the medical education department by:

or give the information/idea directly to Judy Good at or after your department meeting.
