(1/2 to full day)
No more than 6 or 7 speakers for a full day conference - max.
If a two day conference, consider having the same speaker give two talks.
Review the honoraria guidelines and talk with Jeri Sackett before contacting (or at least committing) to any potential speaker.
There is a speaker contract as well as "tips from past conferences" that Jeri will be mailing out to speakers. This includes the agreement that the speaker will provide handouts in a timely fashion prior to the program (or have the honorarium decreased) - just an FYI for you.
Leave plenty of question and answer, panel, and audience involvement time.
Attendees like a clinical tie in, even if it's only a short case presentation to start the talk.
The best days are:
- Thursday
- Friday
- Saturday (if part of a two day program)
Fill out the Cat I application and sign.
Follow the planning timeline closely (for half day or longer, not 1 or 2 hour, conferences) - the program will be cancelled or date moved if it doesn't meet these deadlines. Past experience has proven that a rushed planning process provides an inferior product and less happy physicians. And the success of your program does affect the perception of the quality of future programs as well.
