Number one medical center team
At a recent lunch in downtown Everett, Providence Regional was recognized by the March of Dimes for raising over $46,000 for the 2009 March for Babies—making us the number one medical center team in the entire state of Washington.
Providence Regional hosts NICU graduate reunion at March for Babies
Providence Regional will hold its second Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) reunion at the March of Dimes Snohomish March for Babies on Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m., just after the walk. Parents, their family and baby are invited to join the hospital’s walk team, “NICU,” by visiting www.marchforbabies.org.
At the NICU Reunion, a fun, casual atmosphere will allow families to reconnect with NICU physicians, nurse practitioners and hospital staff. The reunion will feature small goody bags for the children and family photographs by Providence Regional photographer Wendy Fagan. Families are also encouraged to bring baby pictures to the celebration.
Something to smile about
“The NICU will always have a special place in our hearts,” said Kris Johnson, mother of premature twin boys Keagan and Kole born March 24, 2003 at the NICU. Now healthy first-graders in Marysville, Kole weighed only 1 pound 14 ounces at birth and Keagan weighed 3 pounds 7 ounces.
“It’s the staff of the NICU that gave us encouragement and something to smile about. They’re the people you see every day when you’re there and when someone takes you into their lives and makes you feel like family, whether you are or not, it is very heartwarming,” said Johnson, whose family is looking forward to the reunion.
