EVERETT, WA-- Starting January 1, 2008, David Brooks will be the new Chief Executive Officer for the Northwest Washington Service Area of Providence Health & Services. In this role, he will have oversight of Providence Everett Medical Center, Providence Physician Group, Providence Hospice and Homecare of Snohomish County and Providence General Foundation. This announcement is the culmination of a three-year succession planning process which includes Gail Larson’s retirement as CEO on December 31, 2007.

Prior to joining Providence in 2004 as Chief Operating Officer, Brooks was the COO at Central DuPage Health in Winfield, Illinois. Before that, he served in executive roles at CHRISTUS Health in Houston, Texas; Lovelace Health Systems in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and for 10 years at Henry Ford Health System in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

During his three years at Providence, Brooks has represented the medical center in a four-way partnership with The Everett Clinic, Western Washington Medical Group and Northwest Washington Radiation Oncology Associates. Collaboratively these four groups planned and built the newly-opened Providence Regional Cancer Partnership at 1717-13th Street in Everett. Next, Brooks will oversee the opening of the 1,000-stall parking garage in the summer of 2008 and building the new $500 million medical tower scheduled to open in 2011.

“Dave is the person to lead this organization into the future,” says Gail Larson, retiring CEO. “With over 25 years of operational and strategic leadership experience in both for-profit and not-for-profit health care, Dave is poised for success. In addition, he understands our mission and leads with visionary collaboration.  He has my wholehearted endorsement -- it’s great to be leaving Providence Everett in Dave’s highly capable hands.”

Brooks is a resident of Mukilteo.  He lives there with his wife, Laura, and their two young children.
