Providence Everett Medical Center Announces First-Ever
Nurse of the Year
Everett, WA --- Providence Everett Medical Center announces Joy Knox, ARNP, as its first-ever recipient of the Nurse of the Year Award for 2007. Joy, who practices at the Comprehensive Breast Center, was selected from 12 finalists representing over 1,200 nurses who work at Providence Everett Medical Center. Nominations for this prestigious award were submitted by peers and patients.
Kim Williams, Assistant Administrator of Nursing Services said, “The leadership of Providence Everett Medical Center is pleased to recognize Joy Knox as our Nurse of the Year. The finalists for this recognition exemplify the outstanding nurses at PEMC. We feel fortunate to have such a committed and caring nursing staff.”
Nominations were evaluated using the following criteria:
• Consistently demonstrates clinical expertise and excellence as a professional nurse.
• Consistently demonstrates responsibility for own professional development.
• Acts as a role model and mentor.
• Consistently demonstrates excellence in interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
• Participates in activities that promote excellence in nursing (community and/or organization involvement).
The nomination stated, “Joy works miracles with her patients when she delivers their cancer diagnoses. These patients are frightened and bewildered, and she takes time to give them all the knowledge and information they need to navigate their treatment.”
