Providence Everett Medical Center has been recognized as one of the 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the nation for the sixth time. Providence Everett is one of only 29 hospitals nationwide and the only hospital in Western Washington to received this honor six times.
The 2007 Thomson study, 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success, names the nation's top 100 best-performing hospitals for cardiovascular services out of over 6,000 acute care hospitals. Compared with their peers, the 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals: - have better clinical outcomes in terms of mortality and complications
- have lower costs
- maintain shorter lengths of stay
- and are technologically and clinically advanced
The study focused on hospitals that treat the full spectrum of cardiology patients; from those who do not require invasive procedures to those needing an angioplasty or an open-heart surgery. The data used for this study are from Thomson hospital databases and MedPAR (Medicare Provider Analysis and Review). MedPAR contains information on the approximately 12 million annual Medicare discharges from the nation’s acute care hospitals. More information is available at www.100tophospitals.com. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for men and women, and accounts for nearly 300,000 Medicare hospitalizations each year. Approximately 15 percent of what patients spend on hospital care is spent on cardiology-related services. Providence Everett Medical Center is a five-county regional referral center that offers comprehensive, not-for-profit, mission-based health care. In addition to cardiovascular care, Providence Everett provides specialized treatment in areas such as general medical and surgical care, oncology, newborn intensive care, trauma, and pediatrics. Providence Everett Medical Center has three hospital campuses located in Everett at 1321 Colby, 916 Pacific Avenue and 12800 Bothell-Everett Highway, Mill Creek.
