Providence Everett Medical Center offers a toll-free telephone interpreter service for patients and their families who speak little or no English. Now patients and their families can call our toll-free number and get connected to an operator who speaks their language.
The new interpreting line can be used by individuals seeking appointments, and other services, as well as by family members calling to speak to a loved one who is a patient in the hospital.
Your interpreter is on the line Callers to the toll-free number are immediately asked to select from among the five most commonly requested languages—Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic or Somali—or they can choose “other languages” to access interpretation in as many as 127 different languages. The caller is connected directly to an interpreter, who calls the needed hospital department and remains on the line to assist through the telephone conversations with hospital staff. Patients of the hospital and clinics will still be able to access traditional, interpreting services which are coordinated by the staff and include both in person as well as over the phone interpreters.
