There are many opportunities to become involved with the movement to end sexual violence and support sexual assault victims. The following information and links can be helpful in gaining additional information on opportunities, general sexual abuse and assault information, identifying sex offenders, working to change laws in Washington state, and how to access additional services. Volunteer Opportunities If you are interested in supporting victims of sexual abuse and assault, you may be interested in becoming a volunteer sexual assault advocate. Dedicated volunteers are essential to our agency and the services we provide. Our Advocates serve over 2800 clients per year through a variety of systems, including our crisis line and Emergency Department response. Volunteer advocates staff our agency's 24-hour crisis hotline, and may respond to the Emergency room during that time in order to support a victim of an assault. Every volunteer advocate completes 40 hours of initial training, and works for a time with an experienced advocate. We request a commitment of volunteers to cover a minimum of two 12 hour on-call shifts per month for a service period of at least one year. Advocates are also required to attend a monthly training meeting on the second Tuesday evening each month, in order to maintain their required 12 hours of annual continuing education. If you would like additional information on applying to become a volunteer advocate, please call 425-388-7408.
