Bike Safety

85% of serious head injuries can be avoided by wearing a helmet!

Below are some tips and instructions for how to use and fit bike/skate helmet.

Bike crashes send more kids to the emergency room
than any other sport. In fact, kids ages 5 to 14 get hurt
more often than bikers of any other age.

tips for safe helmet use:

  • Helmets must be strapped under the chin to be effective in a fall or crash. If the child is able to take off the helmet without unhooking the chin strap, it is too loose.
  • Check helmet position and fit before each use.
  • Take the helmet off while playing on play equipment! The helmet can get stuck on playground equipment and cause serious injury.
