Water safety tips and lifejacket fitting guidelines

1. NEVER swim alone!
2. Always use a life jacket if you will be in a boat or in the water.
3. Life jacket size/weight must be correct for the person.
4. Life jacket must FIT SNUGLY. When arms are lifted the life jacket should not lift up to the chin.
5. All jacket straps, zippers, and ties must be fastened.
6. Tuck in any loose straps to avoid getting hung-up.
7. Always have one wearable life jacket for EACH PERSON in your boat.
8. Keep children in life jackets AT ALL TIMES when in a boat.
9. Life jackets are NOT BABYSITTERS. Never leave a child alone near water.
10. SUPERVISION IS KEY!

Life Jacket Loaner Program:

The life jacket loaner program currently consists of six live jacket loaner cabinets at various locations in Snohomish County.  The cabinets are open and available for both kids and adults from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.  Life jackets are checked out and must be returned by the end of each day.  There are directions on each cabinet explaining how to size and fit your child into a life jacket.

The following parks have a life jacket loaner station.  The life jackets may be checked out at no charge.  They must be returned by the end of the day.
